Days 51-60: 2013 knocks the 1984 team out of first in the Navin Divsion!

The 2013 team celebrating their time at the top!
Most of the division leaders remained the same, but Steve Willnus and his 2013 Tiger Team have knocked the 1984 World Championship team off the top of the Navin division!  Max Scherzer and his league-leading ERA of 2.23 have been a major factor in this team's rise, but high average hitters like Miguel Cabrera (.343), Victor Martinez (.341), Jhonny Peralta (.335), Julio Iglesias (.372), Alex Avila (.330), and Omar Infante (.327) have helped mightily.

We have a good old-fashioned batting average race going on as 1961 Al Kaline has now topped 1911 Ty Cobb, hitting .404 to the Georgia Peach's .402.  2012 Miguel Cabrera (his Triple Crown season) now is the undisputed leader in the power categories (20 HRs, 62 RBIs) and currently leads the MVP voting.  1984 starter Juan Berenguer is a surprise early leader for the Cy Young Award, leading the league in wins with 11.  He is 11-1 despite a rather ordinary 4.19 ERA.

The player of this block is 1946 Hal Newhouser.  Prince Hal was spectacular this set of games, going 3-0 with three complete games, only 5 earned runs, 1.67 ERA, and 30 K's in 27 innings.  The 1946 team was the hottest the set, going 8-2.

Runner-up is 1934 2B Charlie Gehringer, "The Mechanical Man".  The Hall of Famer hit .531 with 17 hits in 32 at bats!
Hal Newhouser with the big windup!
Charlie Gehringer's .531 average tops all this set!

Something went wrong with the daily reports where each day's stories kept the earlier ones and added on to them, so I will try to untangle all of that, but feel free to click through the days if you want to see all the box scores.
